Malachi and I are headed to the fair in a few minutes to watch one of the animal shows. As we're getting ready, Lisa is fixing him breakfast and asked if he wanted cereal or fruit. First he said fruit and then asked for cereal. I wasn't listening up until the last moment and suggested that cereal would take too long and he should just get a bowl of fruit before we left. He proceeded to run out of the room as if deeply hurt. I yelled for him to come back in and talk to me and he whined all the way back into the room. I asked him what was wrong and he began crying heavy and with the most hurt look on his face said, "that broke my heart."
I kept my composure until I held him close and then I began laughing. My three year olds heart is broken over losing the cereal he so longed to eat this morning. Mourn with us...weep and wail.
